It all started with a canoe. In the late 1970s, one of Wet-seal's founding directors was invited on a canoe trip with a Coffs Harbour local who built fibreglass canoes. As they paddled, the local revealed he was tired of building canoes and offered to sell the business. The business began on a part-time basis, gradually expanding into water tanks, rally car bonnets, and mud flaps. In 1984, Wet-seal broke into the home construction industry by building fibreglass shower trays. The company's humble beginnings as a canoe builder led to its growth into a respected industry-leader in the home construction industry, thanks to the combined efforts of its three founding directors. Today, Wet-seal is a multi-national business with highly skilled franchisees providing waterproofing to new homes and renovations across Australia and New Zealand.
