Empowering individuals through traditional karate training
Origins and History
The Australian Chidokai Karate-do Association emerged in late 2003 as a distinct entity from the Chidokan Karate-do (Aust.) organisation. Founded by Dr Ed Hudson (8th dan), the association embraces the classical Shotokan karate-do principles with a practical, real-life approach. This shift in focus led many dedicated practitioners to establish the Australian Chidokai Karate-do Association.
Shotokan Karate-do with a Practical Emphasis
The association emphasizes the understanding and application of techniques learned from Shotokan kata. Their training methodology focuses on body shifting (tai-sabaki), combinations, and practical self-defence applications. Regular gashakus, a traditional element of Chidokan training, foster unity among students and ensures consistency in technique execution.
Experienced Instructors and Dedicated Members
The association boasts a team of renowned instructors, all experienced practitioners with deep knowledge and passion for the art. These dedicated teachers guide students through their karate journey, fostering their physical and mental development. Additionally, all members receive a monthly newsletter that features relevant information and insightful articles.
Global Reach and Recognition
The Australian Chidokai Karate-do Association maintains connections with its international counterparts. As a member of the Australian Traditional Karate Federation (ATKF) and associated with renowned organizations such as the World Karate Federation (WKF), the association fosters a global exchange of knowledge and promotes the art on a wider scale.
Rich History and Accomplishments
Chidokan boasts a rich history and a notable track record of achievements. The association's students have excelled in various competitions, showcasing their prowess in kata and kumite events at both state and national levels. This remarkable success is a testament to the association's unwavering commitment to excellence.
