Where Australian food and wine take centre stage

At Bennelong, we celebrate the Sydney Opera House and its extraordinary architecture by offering a culturally significant and inspiring menu, created by our Executive Chef Peter Gilmore, that showcases a most magnificent production of Australian food and wine. Our philosophy is centered around the provenance of the food we serve, working closely with farmers, fishermen, breeders, and providores to develop ingredients tailored to our menus. Our cooking style is robust and direct, allowing the pure flavours of the ingredients to shine.

The Story of Bennelong

Sometime over 200 years ago, Bennelong Point was a tidal rock island in the heart of the Gadigal lands. It has been said that this was a location where Aboriginal women would congregate on the rising tide, eat shellfish by the fire, and tell stories. We invite you to create your own story in one of the most recognisable buildings in the world. Bennelong Point is recorded as the largest midden found in Australia. Sometime after British settlement, the Point was used as a quarry for the stone used to build the Sydney Opera House.

The Dining Experience at Bennelong

Bennelong is a haven for foodies and wine lovers alike, with a menu that showcases the best of Australian produce. For a more relaxed dining experience, our two-course la carte menu is available at The Counter, featuring side-by-side high bar seating that offers stunning views of the Main Dining Room and the Bennelong Stage.
