The Taxi Council SA is the peak body of the taxi industry in South Australia, dedicated to providing a quality, efficient, and demand-responsive transport service that achieves customer satisfaction and a fair return for all participants. Since its foundation in 1990, the Taxi Council SA has served as a democratically structured organisation, with strong support from the industry to continue delivering services with its partners for the benefit of members, customers, and the industry.
Our Mission
Our mission is to lead the taxi industry in South Australia, enabling it to provide a high-quality, efficient, and demand-responsive transport service that meets the needs of customers and participants alike. We strive to promote a positive image of the taxi industry, foster the interests and wellbeing of taxi-cab drivers, operators, and depots, and provide a fair return for all participants.
Services
The Taxi Council SA offers a range of services to support the taxi industry in South Australia. Our activities fall into key areas, including lobbying with transport decision makers, transport policy, strategic planning, and legislation/regulation. We also focus on industry performance standards and enhancement, licensing and accreditation, industry training and skills development, fares and fare structures, taxi-cab rank planning and operation, and liaison and co-ordination with other forms of transport.
We provide support for taxi-cab drivers, operators, and depots through our training and skills development programs, which aim to enhance the quality of service and safety of passengers. Our accreditation centre offers a range of programs and resources to help participants meet the highest standards of service and safety.
Industry Stakeholders
The Taxi Council SA is a member of the Australian Taxi Industry Association (ATIA) and the South Australian Tourism Industry Council (SATIC). We work closely with these organisations to promote the interests of the taxi industry and support the development of tourism in South Australia.
