The Chambers is a beloved cafe and events venue located in the heart of Cairns, owned by a local family who shares a passion for cooking delicious food that highlights the best of local produce. Established in 2018, The Chambers underwent a two-year-long restoration process to expose the original history of the former 1920s' bank. The result is a beautiful blend of old and new, where guests can enjoy the simple pleasures in life - good food, good drinks, and great company.
Our Team
The Chambers boasts a team of award-winning professionals from all corners of the world. Led by Head Chef Chris Jarvis, who took out Chef of The Year at the 2021 Restaurant and Catering Awards for NQ and NT, The Chambers team is dedicated to providing guests with an unparalleled dining experience. Our Menu
The Chambers menu has been designed and created by Head Chef Chris Jarvis, who is constantly looking for ways to reinvent the wheel, inspire, and keep up with the latest trends. The menu features dishes that are banging with flavor and have a somewhat rustic flair. Using local produce in all his dishes, Chris and his team work endlessly to plate dishes that aim to inspire and leave guests wanting more.
The Building
The Chambers building is over 90 years old and has hosted many offerings over the decades after its original purpose as a branch of the National Bank of Australasia in 1926. The building utilizes federation styled columns and arches, designed by Brisbane's Lange Powell in a joint venture with Mareeba architect Richard Hill. The original build was a homegrown affair, thanks to the efforts of several local families, among them the Watkins who documented the original build and generously donated the photos to The Chambers as part of the restoration.
