Experience the passion and love for antiques in every piece

Welcome to The Drill Hall Emporium, a unique antiques store that offers an experience like no other. Located in the historic town of New Norfolk, Tasmania, our store is a labour of love shared by a mother and daughters team who have a passion for all things antique. Our philosophy is that antiques should not only be admired for their beauty and historical significance, but also be used and enjoyed in everyday life.

Our story began in the early '90s when we were still in school. With a mere $20 each, we would spend our weekends searching for old items to sell on our market stall, which was set up in the old drill hall building our parents had bought. We would also make apricot jam and worcestershire sauce to sell on our stall, and managed the little market along with a affordable coffee shop. Fast forward 20-something years, three university degrees and many buying trips later, and here we are today. The Drill Hall Emporium is now run by two sisters, Tammy and Donna, and their mother, Sue.

Our Services

At The Drill Hall Emporium, we offer a unique mix of antiques, both decorative and useful. Our collection includes country house furniture, decorative furniture, mirrors and lighting, kitchen objects, textiles, garden items, dining and entertaining pieces, and much more. We are constantly searching for unique and interesting items to add to our collection, both locally and abroad.

In addition to our antiques store, we also own Flywheel, a boutique stationery store with a working letterpress studio, located just a 2 minute walk from The Drill Hall Emporium. Our sister store, Miss Arthur, is a home goods store of handcrafted and traditional products from all around the world, located right next door to us.

Our Community

New Norfolk is a historic town with a rich heritage, and we are proud to be a part of this community. We are fortunate to have a number of world-class businesses and attractions in our town, including The Agrarian Kitchen, a world-famous cooking school, and The Agrarian Kitchen Restaurant and Kiosk, an award-winning restaurant.

For book lovers, Black Swan Bookshop is an independent bookshop with excellent coffee, just down the street from us. Welcome Swallow is a small batch brewery that offers tasty afternoon beverages, and events such as food trucks and live music. The New Norfolk Distillery is a rum dedicated distillery that offers tours, tastings and bottle sales. Glass and Brown Paper Pantry is a plastic free grocery store that offers provisions for both locals and visitors.
