Scuba IQ is a 100% independent, locally owned and operated dive business by two dedicated dive professionals - Martin Connolly and Louise Gill. With decades of experience between us, we take pride in providing personalized dive experiences, making you feel as though you have the Great Barrier Reef all to yourself. Our team of local dive instructors and guides, with extensive knowledge of the reef and its wildlife, will ensure that your dive trip is both enjoyable and unforgettable.
Meet the Team
Martin Connolly, originally from New Zealand, started scuba diving in the late 1990s, exploring mountain lakes and the Pacific Ocean. With a background in mechanical engineering, Martin eventually became a PADI scuba diving instructor, working globally before settling in Port Douglas. Martin is also a proud parent to their daughter, Alba, and a member of the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service.
Louise Gill, the other half of Scuba IQ, is the team's logistical mastermind. With a background in the dive industry, Louise has spent years working in Southeast Asia, Mozambique, and other parts of the world, swimming with Thresher Sharks and Manta Rays. When not behind the scenes at Scuba IQ, Louise enjoys diving with friends and family.
Our Dive Trips and Courses
We offer a range of dive trips and courses, catering to both certified and introductory divers. Our guided dive trips to the Outer Great Barrier Reef ensure that you'll experience the best that diving in Port Douglas has to offer. With private groups, up to three guided dives, and expert local guides, you'll have the chance to explore vibrant coral gardens, walls, and slopes, teeming with marine life.
Dive Sites
Our dive sites include some of the most pristine areas within reach of a day trip from Port Douglas, such as Agincourt, Opal, St Crispins, and Tongue Reef. These areas offer a diverse range of topographies and species, including reef sharks, sea turtles, and various fish species.
