The Vision

Zig Zag Rd. Vineyard and Winery sits nestled amongst the rolling hills of the Macedon Ranges, inspired by a vision of crafting elegant and expressive wines that capture the unique character of the cool climate. We believe in minimal intervention, celebrating the natural beauty of the fruit, and creating wines that reflect the stunning terroirs of our vineyards.

The Story

Henry and Harriet Churchill, with a young family in tow, made the bold leap from their corporate lives in 2018 to pursue their passion for crafting high-quality wine. With limited experience and a whole lot of enthusiasm, they embarked on this journey with a thirst for knowledge and a determination to connect with the land and community.

The Team

Driven by a deep appreciation for the land and the people, Zig Zag Rd. is a family-run operation. Henry manages the viticulture and vineyard operations, while Harriet oversees the winemaking and branding. Their dedication, coupled with the support of a passionate team, ensures every bottle of Zig Zag Rd. wine tells a story of dedication, artistry, and connection.

The Vineyards

Spread across two locations, one in the Macedon Ranges and another in the renowned Languedoc-Roussillon region of France, their vineyards flourish in diverse terroirs. The Macedon Ranges vineyard, planted with 50-year-old vines, boasts rich basalt soil and a cool climate ideal for crafting elegant riesling and pinot noir. The French vineyard adds a unique dimension to their portfolio, producing luxurious grenache, syrah, and marsanne.

Our Winemaking Philosophy

Guided by a philosophy of minimal intervention, Zig Zag Rd. wines showcase the true potential of the fruit. With a focus on capturing the natural flavors and aromas, wines are crafted with short fermentation times, limited skin contact, and minimal use of oak. The result is a collection of expressive and elegant wines that celebrate the unique character of each vintage.
