Empowering Young Minds, Building Bright Futures

At Catjump Preschool, we understand the importance of providing a nurturing and stimulating environment for young children to grow and learn. Our preschool is a sessional, not-for-profit community kindergarten that offers programs for 3 and 4-year-old children. Situated in a quiet residential area, our setting creates a natural and tranquil environment for the children to explore and discover.

Our Philosophy

Our philosophy statement is the result of a collaborative process between the management committee, families, teachers, and staff, and most importantly, is a vivid reflection of our children's voices. We believe that children's learning is a valuable journey, a process containing both triumphs and failures, shared discoveries, meaningful interactions with others, and allows children time to be in the moment enjoying an 'authentic' childhood. We value and respect individuality, diversity, community, and family, and believe that it takes a community to raise a child.

Our Services

At Catjump Preschool, we offer a range of services to support the learning and development of young children. Our educational programs are designed to meet the highest standards of early childhood education, incorporating the National Quality Framework and Standards and the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework in our curriculum decision-making. Our programs are continually evolving to reflect current research and thinking to improve children's learning outcomes.

We also prioritize the health and wellbeing of our children, with a strong commitment to prevention and health promotion programs, including targeted awareness and physical education programs. Our teachers are highly skilled and undertake continuous professional development, critical reflection, and collaborations with the educational leader to ensure that our programs are of the highest quality.

Our Commitment

We are committed to providing a Child Safe environment, with all staff members completing annual Child Safe training. We understand the legal and moral obligation to report abuse allegations and/or concerns regarding a child's safety and wellbeing to the appropriate authorities.

At Catjump Preschool, we acknowledge the traditional custodians and owners of this land and waters, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and pay our respects to their Elders past and present and to the children who are their leaders of tomorrow. We acknowledge their history and living culture.

Exceptional Kindergarten Experiences

All the reviewers have had a positive experience with this kindergarten, with only one exception. The common theme among the reviews is the high-quality care and education provided by the staff. Many of the reviewers have praised the teachers for being caring, inclusive, and supportive.

Staff and Care

The staff at this kindergarten are described as "nice and lovely" (Elham Babolfath) and "very caring" (Julian Wong). They are credited with creating a welcoming and home-like environment (Yanling Lin). The staff are also able to reach children who may be struggling, such as introverted children (Julian Wong).

Learning and Environment

The kindergarten offers a "wonderful learning structure and plans" (Yanling Lin), which provides children with a sense of structure and direction. The environment is also described as "home-like" (Yanling Lin), suggesting that it is a comfortable and familiar space for children to learn and grow.

Professionalism and Quality

The kindergarten is described as "professional" (Sarah M.) and "awesome" (Reggie). While Reggie's review is more playful and anecdotal, Sarah M.'s review suggests that the kindergarten is well-run and provides a high-quality education.

One Exception

Reggie's review seems out of place among the others, which describe the kindergarten in glowing terms. Reggie's review is more focused on a fun and playful experience, rather than the quality of care and education.
