Our Research

Our research encompasses over 20 brain and mental health conditions, including anxiety, dementia, motor neurone disease, epilepsy, and stroke. We investigate how the brain works, what drives behavior, find the underlying causes of diseases, and unravel the connection between the body and the brain. Our research focuses on mental health, epilepsy, protect and repair, dementia, neuroimaging, neurotherapeutics, systems neuroscience, and synaptic biology.

Our Impact

As a world-leading medical research institute, our impact is significant. In 2023, we had over 1000 publications, and our research has the potential to improve the lives of the 5 million Australians affected by the conditions we research. Our 200+ research projects have resulted in over 60,000 citations in 2023, demonstrating the significance of our work.
