Captain Marine is a family-owned and operated dealership that has been serving the Tamar and Northern Tasmania since 1992. History of Captain Marine

Captain Marine was established in 1992 at our current location in Invermay, Tasmania. Since then, we have become an established and respected dealer in the marine industry. We have been awarded the Yamaha Top Dealer Award in recognition of our commitment to excellence. Our growth and success can be attributed to our unwavering dedication to providing our customers with the best service, products, and advice.

Here are some of the milestones in our history:

• 1992: Commenced business at our current site (24 Gleadow Street, Invermay)
• 1992: Became a Yamaha Outboard Agent
• 1999: Became an Allycraft boat Dealership
• 2000: Became a Dunbier Trailer Dealership
• 2004: Became a TABS boat Dealership
• 2005: Became an Oceanic Trailer Dealership

Meet Peter Richardson

Our founder, Peter Richardson, has a wealth of experience in the marine industry. He began his apprenticeship at Highline Marine in 1965 and went on to work at several marine dealerships in England, including the Mercury Dealership in Poole and the Johnson Dealership in London. He returned to Tasmania in 1971 and worked for Highline Marine, before moving on to Guy's Marine, where he worked with Chrysler Outboards. Peter also worked at Suzuki Motorbikes, before becoming a patrol boat skipper for the Tasmanian Sea Fisheries in St Helens. He was also the president of Rosevears Water Sports Club from the early 1990s until the club folded in 2002.

Peter's experience and expertise in the marine industry, as well as his passion for power boat and water-ski racing, make him an invaluable asset to our dealership. He has set up boats to push speeds of 100mph in racing, and his knowledge of marine engines and boats is unparalleled.
