A Brief History
Our journey began in 1984 when Sifu Neal Gilding started his own schools on the north side of Brisbane, as per the wishes of his late Teacher. Over the years, our schools have established a reputation for providing high-quality martial arts training, evident in the numerous exhibitions and demonstrations performed by our students and instructors.

Our mission is to provide a holistic martial arts training experience that not only improves physical fitness and technique but also cultivates discipline, self-confidence, and a sense of well-being. We strive to create a supportive and nurturing environment that empowers individuals to reach their full potential.
What to Expect
A typical training session at Black Crane Kung Fu Schools is divided into three periods, each designed to interact with one another to maximize student learning. The warm-up segment begins with gentle rotations of the joints, increasing mobility and range of movement. This is followed by basic chi kung (breathing) exercises, which increase oxygen intake and stimulate the body. The warm-up concludes with stretching and strengthening exercises to enhance movement and power.
The second period focuses on leg techniques, starting with whole-class training drills for stances and movement. We then split the class into grade standards, ensuring that students are trained with a partner of similar grade and size. This one-on-one training builds reflexes, speed, and power.

At Black Crane Kung Fu Schools, we adhere to the core principle of "Noy Sing": Jen (Patience), Nai (Perseverance), Shan (Kindness), Tung (Understanding), and Chien (Humility). We believe that these principles are not only essential for martial arts training but also for life itself.
