Meela Early Learning is a community-based not-for-profit early learning centre, located in the heart of Mount Lawley. We provide high-quality early learning and care for children aged between 6 weeks and 5 years old. Our centre is designed to offer a nurturing and safe environment, which promotes developmentally appropriate learning outcomes in each of our rooms. These curriculums align with the requirements set out in the National Quality Standard and are displayed in each room along with each child's individual learning journals.

At Meela Early Learning, we believe that children learn through play and that adults and children can learn together. Our learning approach is flexible and allows for spontaneous play and child-led experiences along with intentional teaching experiences and educator-led experiences to scaffold children's learning and development. We recognise that every child is unique, and we welcome family input to our curriculum. If you have any ideas or suggestions for our curriculum, please speak to your child's educators.

The Difference with a Non-Profit Centre

As a community-based not-for-profit centre, Meela Early Learning has an important place in our local community. We provide a community-based not-for-profit alternative to the widely available profit-based model of care. As a not-for-profit, we reinvest returns into the facilities and care provided for our children. The centre is governed by a Management Committee formed by volunteer parents and community members and is run by our Centre Director.

Communication

Parents/Guardians receive daily learning stories and photos of their children via the StoryPark application, which also provides a communication platform for news from the Centre to our Parent/Guardian community. Our educators use StoryPark to document children's learning and development and to communicate with families. Additionally, we follow the ratios set out in the National Education and Care Regulations for the safety and wellbeing of all children in our care.

Vision

Our Vision is to provide the children of the diverse community of Mount Lawley and surrounds with an opportunity to experience an excellent and rewarding early year's education. We care for and support those children and their families in a way that respects and nurtures each child's individuality and encourages those children to become lifelong learners. Meela Early Learning also endeavours to encourage respect for the environment and teach children about sustainable practices.

At Meela Early Learning, we uphold the following principles:

  • Excellence: We strive for excellence in all areas of our service.
