Who We Are
At Marlins Swim School, we are a privately owned and operated swim school that has been serving the Mackay region for over 15 years. Our swim school is located in the popular Northern beaches area, and our indoor heated facility is equipped with the latest technology and equipment to ensure a safe and enjoyable learning experience for all our students. Our team of Austswim qualified teachers are dedicated to providing a high-quality learn to swim program that caters to the individual needs of each child.
Our Program Goals
Our program goals are designed to ensure that every child who learns to swim with us achieves not only swimming skills but also physical fitness, discipline, and confidence. We believe that every child has the potential to reach their full potential, regardless of ability or disability. To achieve this, our program focuses on teaching safety as a priority, buoyancy, stability, balance, and breath control. We also promote physical fitness and cognitive development through our swimming lessons.
Learn to Swim Program
Our Learn to Swim program is designed for children of all ages and skill levels. Our program consists of 12 levels, each with its own set of skills and skills progression. Our teachers are Austswim qualified and undergo regular training to ensure that they stay up-to-date with the latest teaching methods and techniques. We teach without the use of swimming aids or floaties to promote confidence, independence, and strength in the water. Our classes are limited to 4 students per class to ensure personalized attention and a high-quality learning experience.
Our Levels
Our levels are designed to cater to the individual needs of each child, and we do not use age as a determinant. Our levels include:
- Starfish: Our Water Babies program for parents and babies
- Transition Class: For children transitioning from Starfish to toddler classes
- Explorers: For children who are nervous, fearful, or have had a bad experience with water
- Jellyfish: For children learning to kick and paddle
- Seahorse: For children becoming more independent in the water
- Beginner Turtle: For children learning streamline position and long paddles and kicks
- Advanced Turtle: For children refining their skills and preparing for the next level
- Beginner Kicker: For children starting freestyle arms and kick board skills
- Advanced Kicker: For children refining their technique and preparing for the next level
- Beginner Breather: For children focusing on correcting technique for Freestyle arms
Holiday Program
We also offer an intensive swimming program during school holidays, which consists of 5x30min swims over 5 consecutive days. This program is designed to consolidate your child's skills and ensure they make the most of their holiday experience.
