Learning through play, discovering, and growing together
Who We Are
Mitchelton Pre-Schooling Centre (MPC) is a community not-for-profit 3-unit kindergarten affiliated with The Gowrie (QLD). Our kindergarten has been a part of the local community for over 65 years and has an ethos of continual improvement. We are a highly respected and greatly loved community kindergarten.
Our kindergarten offers programs during school terms for those children who are turning four years old by 30 June in the year they attend (i.e. children in the year immediately prior to the prep year) from 7.30 to 5.30. An additional group, MPC 3's, is for children who turn 3 by 31st January.
At MPC, we provide high quality programs that are designed as a foundation for children's lifelong living and learning. We have experienced and innovative staff teams consisting of specialist university educated early childhood teachers assisted by trained teacher assistants. Our staff are passionate about creating a caring, high quality educational program for your child, with the same children and teaching team each day.
MPC is committed to supporting children's exploration of the natural world and increasing their understanding of sustainable practices. We have developed learning environments and resources, both inside the classroom and outside in our kindy grounds, which foster children's engagement, interactions, exploration and wonder.
We are proud to be affiliated with The Gowrie (QLD) Inc. For 75 years The Gowrie's focus has been on QLD children and families, and the benefits quality early childhood programs bring to our community. The Gowrie philosophy and commitment to community spirit is strongly aligned with Mitchelton Pre-Schooling Centre and we are proud to be one of their Community Kindergartens.

Mission Statement
At Mitchelton Pre-Schooling Centre, we are committed to providing a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment where children can learn, grow and thrive. We value and respect each child's individuality, and strive to foster a love of learning that will last a lifetime.
Philosophy
MPC believes that children are capable, active and competent learners who naturally seek to make sense of their world. We recognise that young children learn best through play and hands-on experiences. Our curriculum is based on the principles of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG).
We believe that children learn best when they feel safe, secure and supported. We aim to build strong, respectful relationships with each child and their family, and to create a sense of belonging within our kindy community.
Our History
MPC has a rich history within the local community, having provided quality early childhood education and care for over 65 years. The centre has a proud tradition of supporting families and children in the local area, and has built a reputation for excellence in early childhood education and care.
Kindy Program
Our kindy program provides a wonderful play-based learning environment that is designed to support each child's individual needs and interests. We offer 2 and 3 day kindy programs for 4 year olds, and a unique 2 day program for 3 year olds. Children are in the same class group with the same teaching team every day.
Guided Learning Videos
MPC has produced a series of guided learning videos that support children's learning and development. These videos are designed to be used at home
