Tibballs Nursery

Tibballs Nursery, a fourth-generation family-owned business, has been proudly serving the Tasmanian community since 1946. Our story began with Maurice Tibballs, who was serving in WWII, and his wife Marjorie, who acquired land in Montrose, Tasmania. They started harvesting fresh tomatoes in 1944, which were soon delivered around Tasmania and even made their way into Coles supermarkets. By 1950, their first son was born, and by 1970, Bruce Tibballs had begun securing retail partnerships to supply the well-known flower and veggie seedlings that you see in stores today.

Over the next 15 years, Bruce and his wife Lynne expanded Tibballs Nursery statewide while raising three children. In 1984, Craig Tibballs joined the family business. At that time, Tibballs Nursery was only supplying 25% of Tasmania with flower and vegetable seedlings. In 1993, Craig secured a partnership with Bunnings (previously BBC Hardware), a game-changer for the nursery, as Bunnings soon became one of the largest and most dominant retailers in the state.

Now, with exclusive ranges of plants and a team of 40 dedicated green thumbs, Tibballs Nursery continues to operate as the largest seedling nursery in Tasmania. We are proud to provide Tasmanians with fresh home-grown veggies and eye-catching flowers, all while maintaining our commitment to being Tassie owned and loved since '46.

4. Diggers Heirloom Selections: Explore our premium range of flowers and veggies, featuring advanced varieties that will take your garden to the next level. Each punnet contains 6-8 plants and 10 punnets per tray, accompanied by tips to help them thrive.

5. Potted Colour: Choose from our vibrant assortment of blooming flowers that are guaranteed to brighten your day and catch everyone's eye. With one plant per pot, 15 pots per tray, and more advanced than seedling varieties, our potted colour options are perfect for gardens, planter boxes, or hanging in the yard.
