Our History
Our journey began in the 1970s, when Peter Light established the clinic at the historic Retford Park. The practice has since expanded under the ownership of Karim Kooros, who returned to Australia from Brunei in 2000. With over 30 years of veterinary experience, Dr. Karim Kooros' expertise spans across various equine disciplines, including reproduction, lameness, and dental care.

Our office manager, Christine Ahling, brings her extensive experience in equine reproduction and education, ensuring seamless communication and administrative support. Retford Equine Veterinary Clinic offers a comprehensive range of veterinary services to cater to the diverse needs of horses. Our services include:
- Surgery: a broad spectrum of surgical procedures, from castrations to hernia repairs, conducted at your premises or our clinic.
- Artificial Insemination: experienced in frozen and chilled artificial insemination, with semen storage facilities available.
- Stallion Collections: experienced in chill and collection of stallions for breeding purposes.
- Dentistry: comprehensive dental care and advice, with sedation and travel included.
- Branding: freeze branding services with supplied numbers, including clients' own stud brands.
Veterinary Facilities
Our clinic is situated just five minutes from the township of Bowral on the prominent property, "Keiron Park". Our veterinary facilities include a state-of-the-art laboratory, processing and analyzing both chilled and frozen semen, as well as performing laboratory tests. We also have an undercover crush area with a spacious foal enclosure.
Agistment
Retford Equine Veterinary Clinic offers short-term and long-term agistment options for your horse, providing a safe and comfortable environment for your equine friend. Our facilities cater to a range of horse breeds and sizes, offering shared paddocks, single-day yards, or double-sized stables.
