Achieving Optimal Health through Holistic Medicine
Welcome to Kintsugi Counselling, where we believe that beauty and strength can be found in the imperfections and scars that make us human. As an Accredited Social Worker and Counsellor, I, Ashley Hommersom, am passionate about supporting individuals, particularly women and mothers, to find their inner strength and resilience during times of crisis and transformation.
Our Story
Kintsugi Counselling is founded on the Japanese philosophy of kintsugi, which celebrates the beauty of imperfection and the strength that comes from embracing our scars. This philosophy resonates deeply with my personal and professional values, and it is the foundation upon which our counselling services are built.
Our Services
At Kintsugi Counselling, we specialise in providing trauma-informed and compassionate counselling services to individuals who have experienced complex trauma, including sexual assault, domestic violence, and childhood abuse and neglect. We also work with women on their journey into and through motherhood, providing a safe and supportive space for them to navigate the challenges of motherhood and perinatal mental health.
Expertise
With over 15 years of experience in the human welfare sector, I have developed a deep understanding of the complexities of human relationships and the impact of trauma on individuals and families. My qualifications and training in social work, counselling, and motherhood studies equip me to provide holistic and innovative counselling services that address the unique needs of each individual.
Our Approach
Our approach to counselling is centred on empathy, understanding, and empowerment. We believe that every individual has the strength and resilience to overcome their challenges, and our role is to support and guide them on their journey. We work collaboratively with our clients to identify their strengths and goals, and we use a range of evidence-based therapeutic interventions to help them achieve their aspirations.
Our Qualifications
I hold a Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) from the University of New South Wales, a Graduate Diploma in Counselling from Monash University, and a Motherhood Studies Practitioner Certification from Dr Sophie Brock. I am an Accredited Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers and an Approved Victims Services Counsellor with the Department of Communities and Justice.
Our Commitment
At Kintsugi Counselling, we are committed to providing a safe, non-judgmental, and inclusive space for individuals to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. We believe that healing is a journey, and we Honour that journey with compassion, empathy, and understanding.
