Design and Construction Process

Our design process begins with a careful planning and creation of a design brief in close communication with the client. We use various media to visualise the client's desires, combining structural elements with planting, taking into account natural light, orientation, spatial requirements, and the intended uses of different parts of the landscape. Once the brief has been established, a CAD drawing of the design is produced, which undergoes further testing and scrutiny together with the client. After finalising the design, all necessary construction drawings are completed, and building permits are obtained to ensure all works will proceed within all council regulations.

The construction process involves site preparation, which may include the removal of unwanted vegetation and structures, as well as the establishment of new soil and ground levels. The new layout of structural elements, such as paving, retaining walls, water features, and planter boxes, are then marked out, followed by the installation of drainage and pouring of foundations. The planting areas are prepared, and the chosen plants are brought in and planted. Finally, lighting and irrigation are installed, and a mulch layer is applied for added moisture retention, better plant propagation, and aesthetic reasons.

It is important to note that clients may be closely involved during the construction process to ensure all new elements are of the expected type, style, and in the correct place. We value the input of our clients in creating their dream landscape.

*Stonework*

We specialise in the installation of all types of stone for feature or retaining walls. Our specialties include dry stack stone walls using locally sourced natural stones such as Tuscan, Granite, or Mud rock, which are a popular choice for many clients. We also construct feature walls, retaining walls, planter boxes, or use stone to clad existing surfaces, both internally and externally.

*Paving Types*

We lay all types of paving stone in all different patterns, sourced locally. Our specialties include granite cobblestones laid in bows or M pattern for driveways, as seen in Europe, and mosaics as seen in Portugal, Italy, and Germany. We also do most types of concreting including exposed aggregate concrete driveways.

*Decks, Gates & Timber Work*

We design and build all types of decks, pergolas, gates, fences, seats, and more, using many different types of timber sourced locally as far as possible. Our skills in timber work were learned in Hamburg, Germany and have been reinforced by our team's experience in road construction in Germany.
