Dance Plus

Welcome to Dance Plus Studios, a family and community-oriented dance school located in the heart of Greensborough. We believe that dance is for everyone, and we strive to create a friendly and welcoming environment where students can grow in health, happiness, and technical skill.

Our philosophy is centered on the value of childhood, healthy body image, and the celebration of effort and improvement. We do not rush our students to adulthood, but instead focus on teaching age-appropriate moves and selecting suitable music for each class. We also promote a healthy body image by focusing on technique rather than body shape, and we are careful not to overemphasize the importance of diet and exercise.

At Dance Plus Studios, we celebrate effort and improvement, and we encourage participation in exams rather than competitions. We believe that dance is a cooperative activity, and we prefer to see dancers celebrating their own and the group's progress rather than comparing themselves to others. We are also committed to challenging gender stereotypes and increasing the number of boys and men enrolled in our school. Our female dancers are strong and powerful protagonists in their own stories, not just pretty princesses posing for a prince.

Our Services

We offer a wide variety of dance classes for students of all ages and skill levels. Our social classes are open to anyone who meets the age requirement, and beginners are always welcome. We offer social classes in a variety of dance styles, including jazz, tap, hip-hop, and more.

We also offer technical classes in ballet, jazz, and tap, using the Southern Federation of Dance syllabi. These classes are more rigorous and focused, with students working towards a defined set of skills and techniques. Entry to these classes is based on skill level, and students make their way through the syllabus as they progress.

In addition to our regular classes, we offer examinations for students in our technical classes. These exams provide formal recognition of a student's newly gained skills, and offer a sense of purpose and celebration of progress.

Our annual concert is a highlight of the year for many students, and provides an opportunity for students to share the joy of dance with friends and family. While participation in the concert is optional, it is a bonding experience for our students and a celebration of the year's hard work and progress.

We are conveniently located near many schools in Greensborough, and have a rear entrance off the service lane up the road from the back entrance of Chemist Warehouse. We welcome students and families from all backgrounds, and offer a free trial class for those interested in joining our dance community.
