Service and Communication Issues
Several reviewers have expressed frustration with the service and communication provided by Tax-Aid. Nadeen Kamel mentions poor communication, never returned calls, and having to go in person to resolve an issue. Dean Turton and Cameron Barrow also experienced unprofessional service, with multiple phone calls left unanswered and promises not kept. Kim Turner and Danika Yeokamaram had difficulty getting responses to their queries and felt ripped off.
Charging Issues
There have been several instances of unexpected and excessive charges. Kim Turner was charged $191 more than expected, while David Towell was charged double the advertised rate. Cameron Barrow was also overcharged and was left seeking a refund. Nadeen Kamel had a full year's tax return retained by the business and was offered only half the return, with the remaining half being offered for the following year.
Unprofessional Conduct
Some reviewers have reported unprofessional behavior, including David Towell's experience of having to wait for two hours for his basic tax return. Nadeen Kamel mentions seeing other customers' paperwork on the floor around the business owner's desk, with personal information visible. Harp Consumerify was uncomfortable with employees taking calls in a consultation room and speaking in another language.
