Marnie Bicknell is a civil marriage celebrant based in Hobart, Tasmania, and available to officiate weddings and commitment ceremonies in other locations by request.

Our Story

I was born and raised in south-west Sydney and relocated to Tasmania in 2011 with my family, seeking a lifestyle change. The natural beauty of this state and its welcoming people have been a constant source of inspiration. I married my husband in 2007 (that's us in the banner picture reaching for the heart!) and we have two wonderful children. My background is in administration and theatre work, with nearly 20 years of experience in performing, playwriting, directing, and stage management. I bring the same enthusiasm and dedication to my work as a marriage celebrant. I am passionate about the power of words and love hearing new ideas for unique and personal vows and readings.

Our Services

Wedding Ceremony Options

*Intimate Ceremony - $750*

Some couples prefer a quieter ceremony with only the couple, the celebrant, and two witnesses present. Our Intimate Ceremony option is designed for registry-style weddings, held at a location of your choice. This fee includes:

• Two meetings to discuss your ceremony requirements
• Access to ceremony wording option resources
• A rehearsal either at our office or onsite at your wedding location
• Unlimited email and phone communication regarding your wedding ceremony ideas
• Filling out and lodging all legal documentation with Births, Deaths, and Marriages
• Use of our signing table and chairs
• A commemorative wedding certificate on the day
• A keepsake booklet of your ceremony wording
• A registered marriage certificate sent to you from Births, Deaths, and Marriages after the wedding

*Classic Ceremony - $800*

For couples hosting a more extensive wedding with many guests, our Classic Ceremony option is designed to ensure that all attendees can hear the ceremony clearly. This fee includes:

• Three meetings to discuss your ceremony requirements
• Access to ceremony wording option resources
• A rehearsal either onsite at your wedding location or at our office
• Unlimited email and phone communication regarding your wedding ceremony ideas
• Filling out and lodging all legal documentation with Births, Deaths, and Marriages
• Use of our signing table and chairs
• A commemorative wedding certificate
• A PA system for optimal sound quality
• A keepsake booklet of your ceremony wording
• A registered marriage certificate sent to you from Births, Deaths, and Marriages after the wedding

*Commitment Ceremony/Renewal of Vows - $750*

For couples seeking to celebrate their relationship without legal recognition, we offer a Commitment Ceremony or Renewal of Vows option. This fee includes the same services as our Intimate Ceremony, but without the legal documentation.
