"Without passion there is no love, without love there is no reason".

Welcome to the Mildura & District Ballet Guild Inc., a not-for-profit organisation that has been promoting and fostering the art of dance in the Mildura region since 1959. Our mission is to provide a nurturing and creative environment where children can learn and grow through the art of dance. We offer a wide range of dance styles, including Classic Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap, Character, and Tiny Tots, taught by professional dance teaching staff. Our administration is operated on a voluntary basis, ensuring that our focus remains on providing high-quality dance education.

Our History

The Mildura & District Ballet Guild was formed in 1959 by a group of dedicated individuals, led by Joyce, Mrs. Lester Davey. The aim was to provide a legitimate alternative to the only school in the area that offered a form of classical ballet. After much groundwork, the services of a qualified young woman from Broken Hill were obtained, and classes began in St. Margaret's Hall. However, it quickly became apparent that this arrangement was not practical or financially viable. It was clear that there was a new and eager generation of parents and children in the district wanting to learn ballet.

Our Dance Programs

Today, the Mildura & District Ballet Guild offers a wide range of dance programs to suit children of all ages and abilities. Our programs include:

  • Classic Ballet: Our classic ballet program follows the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus, which is a leading syllabus in the world of classical ballet. This program focuses on developing proper ballet technique, strength, and flexibility.
  • Contemporary: Our contemporary program is a fusion of modern and classical ballet and focuses on developing versatility and creativity in movement.
  • Jazz: Our jazz program is a high-energy dance style that focuses on rhythm, style, and performance.
  • Hip Hop: Our hip hop program is a street dance style that focuses on rhythm, style, and individual expression.
  • Tap: Our tap program focuses on developing rhythm, timing, and precision in movement.
  • Character: Our character program is a dance style that focuses on portraying a character through movement and expression.
  • Tiny Tots: Our tiny tots program is a fun and engaging dance program for young children, focusing on developing movement, rhythm, and creativity.
