Rob McNamara Upholsterer

Rob McNamara, the founder of Upholstery Cairns Services, has been in the upholstery business for 40 years. His journey began when he was 13, sweeping the floors of an upholstery shop. At 15, he started his apprenticeship, and by the time he was 18, he had already opened his first upholstery business in Brisbane. Rob's love for upholstery took him to Cairns in 1986, where he honed his skills further and opened his current business in 1997.

Rob's extensive experience includes all aspects of domestic upholstery, marine fit-outs, auto upholstery, and commercial fit-outs such as restaurants and offices. He has worked extensively with the health industry, including the Cairns Base Hospital, Qld Health, and Arc Disability services. Rob takes pride in his speciality and favourite work, which is high-end antique and retro furniture restoration.

Today, Rob's philosophy is simple. He wants a business/life where he can produce work that he is proud of, have good personal relations with his clients, and live comfortably. Rob's reputation is on the line with every job he does, and he takes great care to ensure that the finished product is better than the original. His motto is "My word is my bond."

At Upholstery Cairns Services, we offer a range of services that can breathe new life into your old furniture, boats, transport, and medical apparatus. Our services include:

• Furniture Upholstery: Our team can restore your old furniture back to its original beauty or even improve upon it. Re-upholstering adds value to your pieces, can be cheaper than buying a new product, allows you to create customised items that are personalised, and helps stop your old furniture from ending up in landfill.
• Motorbike and Scooter Seats: We specialise in recovering motorbike seats and can restore them to their original beauty or even improve upon it.
• Custom Upholstery: We can create custom-made pieces that are tailored to your specific needs. Whether you need a piece of furniture for your home, business, or boat, we can create it for you.

• How it Works: If you're interested in our services, we offer free quotes. In many cases, people will send us a picture or contact us by phone. From this, we can most times give an estimate. If that sounds good, we then make an appointment to inspect the job to give a final quote. From there, we take a deposit (usually 50% of materials) with payment on delivery.

At Upholstery Cairns Services, we can supply most fabrics and materials, including Warwick Fabrics, Zepel Fabrics, Thomas Maxwell leathers, Hemptek, Sunbrella Fabrics, Defab, Docril, and Innova Vinyls.

We pride ourselves on our quality work and customer service. Our business is based in Manunda, and we service Cairns and surrounding areas. Our workshop location is at 18 Hill St Manunda, Qld 4870.
