Russell, the founder of Russell Barrett Architects, was nominated a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Architecture in 2012. He is the Deputy Chair of Open Gardens Australia (Vic) from 2012, a Member of the RAIA Awards Jury 1998, and a Visiting Tutor in Architecture RMIT in the 1990s. Russell is committed to creating enduring designs, combining the classic with the contemporary, respect with innovation. He has a deep commitment to community and charity fundraising as well as a passion for classic boats and cars, and contemporary art.

Joan Taylor B. Arch

Joan is an experienced residential architect who has worked with the practice for over 25 years. She has a specialty in interiors and brings practicality, detailed design, and precise documentation to the team.

Greg Thompson Dip. Building Design and Technology

Greg is our Senior Draftsman, who has been with Russell Barrett Architects for 13 years. He is key in the building phase, combining excellent communication with accurate documentation and economic project management.

Urban

With a diverse portfolio of urban residences, Russell Barrett Architects has won a reputation for creating individual houses to suit all budgets. We specialize in sensitive and innovative renovation to houses from the Victorian era, the 1920s through to the 1950s, many with established gardens to be married with new design. Our new builds include family residences, townhouses, pool houses, pavilions, and the more playful follies and cubby houses, even garden sheds.
