Unlock the beauty of handmade art for your unique space

Our Story

At Shibori, we believe that beauty lies in the imperfections and uniqueness of handmade art. As a team of artists, designers, authors, and educators, we are passionate about creating exceptional textiles for beautiful spaces. Our journey began with a shared love for the Japanese art of Shibori, which involves folding, twisting, or pleating fabric to create stunning visual and textural effects.

What We Offer

Our boutique store in Stanmore, Sydney, is a haven for those who appreciate handmade art and unique interiors. We offer an extensive range of Shibori fabrics, designed by hand and produced on commercial hospitality grade substrates. Suitable for high-traffic interiors, our upholstery fabrics come in a diverse collection of bases, as well as in wide-width curtaining and sheers. Our leather products are sourced from ethical suppliers and are treated, bound, dyed, stretched, and sealed before leaving our studio.

In addition to our fabric and leather offerings, we also collaborate with Designer Rugs to create bespoke rug designs that showcase our signature aesthetic. Each design reflects a deep appreciation for the beauty found in the imperfect and the transient. Our Surface Art collection features hand-made patterns that integrate ancient dyeing techniques with Australian style for a unique interior experience.

Workshops and Community

At Shibori, we believe in the power of creativity and community. Our workshops are designed to inspire and educate, offering a unique opportunity to discover the magic of Shibori dyeing techniques. From indigo workshops to team-building events, we offer a range of experiences that cater to individuals, schools, and corporate groups.

Our Values

As a business, we recognize the importance of social responsibility and sustainability. We pay our respects to First Nations knowledge holders and recognize the unceded lands on which we live, work, and learn. We strive to reduce our environmental footprint and promote fair trade practices in all our operations.
