Our Story

Road Engineering Services (RES) was founded by Phil Hunt in August 2013, with a vision to deliver exceptional engineering services to clients across various industries. With over 25 years of experience in the road design and construction industry, Phil's expertise in road engineering, project management, and contract management has enabled him to provide tailored solutions to his clients. Our company's mission is to provide innovative and practical solutions to our clients, ensuring successful project outcomes and long-term relationships.

Our Services

At RES, we offer a comprehensive range of services that cater to the diverse needs of our clients. Our expertise includes road planning, road asset management, construction tender documentation, and alliance participation. We understand that each project is unique, and our team works closely with clients to understand their specific requirements and develop customized solutions.

Our road planning services include options analysis, business case development, and planning phase investigations, such as traffic, pavement, site, and gravel (remote sites) studies. We also provide project management services, including project planning and project start-up assistance, construction management advice, quality, cost, time, procurement, team building, and delivery. Additionally, we offer project health checks and claims advice, technical supervision, and implementation of specifications, as well as trouble shooting construction issues.

In terms of design, we manage design teams and provide RPEQ supervision of all aspects, including geometric, geotechnical, drainage, structural, traffic signals, and pavement design. We also develop design documentation and contract documentation. Our asset management services are designed to help clients optimize their asset performance, and we implement strategic asset management strategies in accordance with ISO 55000, 55001, and 55002 standards. We also provide data analysis, strategy development, program development, and continual improvement services.

Furthermore, we offer contract administration services, including procurement and tender analysis, establishing and operating the contract administration system, developing an appropriate team for the project, and setting up risk-based inspection and review. We also provide full delivery of the contract and reporting to clients. Our other engineering services include pavement research, engineering training in various aspects, including pavement design, pavement performance, and specifications, as well as engineering policy and strategy development, and engineering assessments and reports.

Our Expertise

Phil Hunt, our Director and Principal Engineer, is a highly experienced engineer with a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) and a Master of Engineering. He is a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) and a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) with the Institution of Engineers Australia (IEAust). Phil's skills in road engineering, project management, and contract management, combined with his technical and analytical approach to issues, make him an invaluable asset to our clients. His ability to see the "big picture" and identify solutions to complex problems has earned him a reputation as a trusted advisor in the industry.
