Empowering You to Take Care of Your Body and Health

At East West Clinic, we're committed to providing a holistic approach to healthcare that focuses on empowering individuals to take control of their wellbeing. As a registered Chinese Medicine practitioner, I, Rebecca Cannon, have spent over two decades working in the health care industry, dedicating myself to educating and empowering others to take care of their own health and wellbeing.

My Journey

My journey into the world of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) began when I started studying Health Information Management at Sydney University in 1996. As a pharmacy technician in a public hospital, I was introduced to the concept of TCM when working alongside a supervising oncology pharmacist who discussed the origins of western pharmaceutical medications isolated from Chinese herbs. This sparked my curiosity, and I soon discovered the ancient art of acupuncture. After sustaining an injury while making chemotherapy infusions, I turned to acupuncture for relief, which prompted me to dive deeper into this ancient medicine.

My Education and Training

I completed my Bachelor of Health Sciences in Traditional Chinese Medicine at the University of Technology in Sydney in 2005. Throughout my education, I was mentored by senior colleagues, and I continue to refine my skills through informal and formal study methods. I've had the opportunity to travel to China and Vietnam to observe the extensive application of TCM in hospital and private clinic settings. I've also completed an internship at Zheijiang Provincial Hospital in Hangzhou, China, and worked as an acupuncturist on a cruise ship for eight months.

My Practice

At East West Clinic, I'm committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment where individuals can take the time to relax, unwind, and focus on their health and wellbeing. I offer a range of services, including acupuncture, cupping, moxibustion, guasha, and tuina, as well as Chinese herbal medicine and dietary therapy. My ultimate goal is to empower individuals to take control of their health and wellbeing, providing them with the tools and knowledge to make positive lifestyle changes.

Membership and Accreditations

As a registered Chinese Medicine practitioner with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency), I adhere to the Australian government's required educational, training, and safety standards. I'm also a member of the Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association (AACMA), the peak professional organisation in Australia for Chinese medicine practitioners. Additionally, I'm currently working towards accreditation in Kiiko Matsumoto Style Acupuncture and studying Japanese at the University of New England.
