Who we are
The Mental Health Council of Tasmania (MHCT) is the peak body representing the mental health and wellbeing needs of all Tasmanians. We are a member-based organisation, collaborating with community organisations and individuals to champion positive change. For over 40 years, we've been advocating for better mental health services, supporting prevention efforts, and empowering individuals and communities.
Our Team
At MHCT, we are driven by passionate and experienced professionals, alongside committed volunteers. Led by CEO Connie Digolis, our team works collaboratively to amplify the voices of our members and advocate for meaningful reforms. We are committed to working in partnership with government, communities, and other stakeholders to achieve lasting and sustainable improvements in mental health and wellbeing for all Tasmanians.
What we do
We tackle various aspects of mental health to create a more supportive and inclusive society. Our key areas of focus include:
- Community Engagement
We foster meaningful connections and empower communities through workshops, peer support groups, and public awareness initiatives.
- Membership System Improvement
We strengthen the mental health sector by establishing robust membership programs and connecting individuals and organisations with relevant resources.
- Workforce Development
We advocate for improved training, retention, and career pathways for mental health professionals.
- Youth Mental Health
We prioritize the unique needs of young people by supporting programs and initiatives that promote early intervention and positive mental health outcomes for young Tasmanians.
- Wellbeing & Resilience
We empower individuals to take charge of their mental wellbeing through resources, self-care programs, and peer-support networks.
- Grant Funding
We secure and distribute grants to support innovative projects and initiatives that address diverse mental health needs in the community.
