ABOUT OUR KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM

Our kindergarten program's primary goal is to develop children into enthusiastic learners, who are confident, independent, and self-assured. In essence, we aim to teach children how to learn, instilling a passion for acquiring knowledge and understanding. Our program adheres to the Early Years Learning Framework for Australia - Belonging, Being and Becoming, which outlines the essential principles, practices, and outcomes that form the foundation for early childhood learning from birth to six years of age and the transition to school.

At Gingerbread Kindergarten, we believe in the power of play as the foundation for academic learning. Play allows children to build the essential skills and knowledge necessary before learning highly abstract symbols such as letters and numbers. Our curriculum-based activities help children achieve the key goals of learning, by improving their language and communication skills, cultivating a caring attitude towards other people and the environment, promoting a positive attitude towards learning, and enhancing their self-worth.

We employ a responsive programming approach that considers each child's unique needs, based on their developmental stage. Our educators monitor children's progress through daily observations, and the data gathered contributes to the planning of subsequent activities and programs. These developmental records are always available for consultation with parents, while the weekly program is prominently displayed in the parents' information area.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

At Gingerbread Kindergarten, our curriculum extends beyond the core learning program, providing children with additional activities to further enrich their learning experience. These extra-curricular activities include yoga, drama, planting vegetables, and learning about the natural environment. We also collaborate with professionals who offer classes such as music, sport, and Spanish as a second language. By incorporating these varied activities into our curriculum, we aim to create a well-rounded educational experience that caters to the diverse interests and needs of each child.
