Our Services

We offer a range of services to help you achieve your aviation goals. Our training programs are designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to succeed in the aviation industry. Our services include:

• Private Pilot Licence: Fly yourself, family, and friends anywhere in Australia. Enjoy the fun and freedom of flying to events, go touring, or use it for business.
• Commercial Pilot Licence: Pay as you go, free from student debt. Learn from current commercial pilots, and benefit from our unique job-ready Pathway Program.
• Night Rating (Night VFR): A great add-on to any licence. Build your instrument skills and become a more proficient pilot by adding valuable night hours.

Our Career Pathway Program

Our Career Pathway Program is designed to help you get a paid job in aviation. You'll gain practical experience and knowledge through real-world Part 135 operations as pilot-in-command, all under the watchful eye of your experienced mentor-pilot. Through our own charter company, Red River Aviation, based in Mildura, Victoria, you'll take part in real charter operations, learn the practical aspects of the job on the ground, and fly 10+ hours in-command-under-supervision (ICUS) on the Cessna U206G - the definitive Australian working plane. On completion, you'll be 'job-ready'.

Our Training

Our training is fun and practical, and you'll be flying only VH-registered, FAR23-manufactured aircraft exclusively. You'll receive a full pilot qualification, ICAO recognised worldwide. Ground school and study support is provided for all levels of training. We have bases in both Bankstown and Mildura, plus satellite locations within regional Victoria.

Our Story

Celebrating 25+ years in professional aviation services, charter and flight training, SM Aviation is headed by Simon Mathews. With a successful career across management and sales in transport and logistics, Simon gained his commercial pilot licence and flight instructor rating and went on to build extensive flying experience as an instructor, in air charter, corporate, aero-medical, demonstration, and remote operations.
