Welcome to Kyokushin Karate Gold Coast Inc., a proudly independent dojo located on the Gold Coast. We are a not-for-profit association, affiliated with the IKO Kyokushinkaikan Union, dedicated to providing quality, progressive instruction in Kyokushin Karate. Our traditional values and work ethic are instilled in our students, alongside respect and discipline, creating a supportive and inclusive environment for all.
Our Services
We offer a range of services catering to all ages and abilities, with a focus on personal challenge and growth. Our classes are designed to improve fitness, concentration, and discipline, while fostering a sense of belonging and community.
*Children's Classes*
Our children's classes run from 4:30-5:30pm Monday and Wednesday. Kyokushin Karate offers a unique set of benefits for children, including visible improvements in fitness, concentration, and discipline. Our classes are structured to provide a supportive and fun environment, where children can learn and grow at their own pace.
*Adult Classes*
Our adult classes run from 6-7:30pm Monday and Wednesday, and from 8-9am Saturday. Adults from many walks of life enjoy the immense benefits gained through martial arts training. Our community is comprised of unique individuals, each searching for something different. Kyokushin Karate offers that difference, with a focus on self-improvement and self-discovery.
*Specialist Instruction*
We regularly hold specific classes, including tournament training, Kata classes, and grading preparation. We also offer Self Protection seminars and Bunkai jutsu classes, among others. Tournament officiating and administration also play a key role in our dojo.
Our Values
Kyokushinkai means Association for the Ultimate Truth. This is reflected in our teaching and training, which is based on the 'ultimate truth' and the strongest karate. Our training is sometimes demanding, but we make no excuses for that. We believe in pushing ourselves to be the best we can be, while maintaining a supportive and caring environment.
We are also proudly affiliated with Fairplay Vouchers, a program that assists children and young people who can least afford, or may otherwise benefit from, joining a sport or active recreation club. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to learn Kyokushin Karate, regardless of their financial situation.
Our Instructors
Our founding instructors, Shihan Phil Cox and Sensei Katie Cox, are highly experienced and dedicated to providing the best possible instruction to their students. Our senior instructors are qualified and experienced in teaching Kyokushin Karate, and are committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
