Welcome to Nought to Five Early Childhood Centre, a not-for-profit, community-based centre managed by a parent committee. We are committed to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment for children, and our staff-to-children ratios are well above government requirements. Our philosophy is centred on the belief that childhood should be filled with fun, happiness, and laughter, while fostering a love for learning.

Our location at 16 Waterloo Road, Macquarie Park, provides easy access and ample parking for parents. We are open from 7:15 am to 6:00 pm, 50 weeks of the year, and currently accepting enrolments for 2024.

Our Philosophy

Our approach to early childhood education is play-based, and we strive to create an inclusive environment that promotes competence, independent exploration, and learning through play. We recognise that children learn best when they are engaged in meaningful, open interactions with educators, and we are dedicated to fostering lively and enquiring minds.

Our outdoor area is spacious and well-maintained, providing children with an aesthetic environment that enhances and stimulates their play. Physical activity is promoted through planned and spontaneous experiences, and we believe that a healthy lifestyle begins in early childhood.

Our Staff

At Nought to Five Early Childhood Centre, we recognise that our staff are our greatest asset. We believe that they are the backbone to the nurturing, development, and education of your child, and we make every effort to recruit and retain the best possible early childhood staff to care for your child. All our educators are either fully qualified or studying towards an Early Childhood Degree or Diploma in Children's Services. We pride ourselves on the length of service of many of our staff members, with over 50% of our team having been with us for over five years, and our longest serving staff member retiring in March 2020 after 25 years of service.

Training is an essential part of our philosophy, and we provide continuous opportunities for our staff to enhance their skills and keep up-to-date with current knowledge of best practice in early childhood. Training also includes updating staff knowledge in relation to their legislative responsibilities, such as Child Protection, First Aid, and Safe Food Handling.

Working with Children Check

To ensure the safety of all our children and to comply with the Child Protection (Prohibited Employment) Act 1998 and the Commission for Children & Young People Act 1998, all full-time, part-time, and casual employees must provide us with a Working With Children Check number. This will be verified by us to confirm they are cleared to work with children.

Enrolment Policy and Fees

We offer flexible enrolment options, and our fees are competitive and inclusive, covering all meals, nappies, and extracurricular activities. We explain our CCS (Child Care Subsidy) eligibility and enrolment policy in detail, and we are committed to making the enrolment process as smooth as possible.

Waitlist and Orientation Policy

Our waitlist policy is transparent and fair. Whenever a vacancy arises, we contact the families on our waitlist in order of registration. Our orientation policy is designed to provide a gentle transition for both parents and children. We understand that separation anxiety can be challenging, and we work closely with families to ensure a smooth and happy introduction to the Centre.

Environment and Outdoor Learning

We believe that the environment plays a crucial role in young children's development, and our commitment to sustainability and natural learning experiences reflects this belief. Our baby room, toddler room, and preschool room are carefully designed to nurture children's curiosity and creativity. Our outdoor learning environment is a natural extension of the indoor space, and we provide a range of opportunities for children to explore and learn through hands-on experiences.

Program and Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)

Our program is designed to promote children's learning and development outcomes, and is underpinned by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).
